Health Central University

Health Central University LogoHealth Central University (HCU) is the first corporate university in a hospital setting in Central Florida and is dedicated to furthering the health related education of the community. Classes are available to area residents as well as continuing education for our healthcare professionals.

Health Central University consists of six academies: Community Health, Clinical Excellence, Health Central Way, Leadership Development, Physician Excellence, and Professional Development. Each academy is governed by an Advisory Council whose members are responsible for the planning, development and implementation of all the courses offered at Health Central University.

Health Central University is governed by an Advisory Board composed of representatives from each of the advisory councils, representatives from Health Central’s Board of Directors, Valencia Community College, University of Central Florida, DeVry University, VITAS, an MD champion and hospital administration.

SAFE SITTER® COURSE NOW BEING OFFERED

Students Learn Babysitting Basics & More

Health Central will offer Safe Sitter® courses for young teens 11 and up on June 8 & 9, 2012 and July 21 & 22, 2012 at Health Central Hospital.  10,000 West Colonial Drive | Ocoee, FL 34761

Over 500,000 adolescent babysitters have graduated from the medically-accurate program which instills students with confidence as they learn how, why and where injuries can happen so they can be prevented. The cost of the course is $50.

The up-to-date curriculum provides hands-on practice in lifesaving techniques designed to prepare babysitters to act in an emergency. Babysitters also receive instruction on how a child's age affects how to care for them, how to prevent problem behavior and how to run their own babysitting business. They also learn basic first aid as well as how to perform infant and child choking rescue. They even learn CPR.  

To graduate from the Safe Sitter® course and receive a completion card, students must pass a rigorous practical and written test that indicates their mastery of key concepts and life and safety skills.
