Who We Are
Health Central Hospital - Among the Nations Top Hospitals in Quality Measures
Health Central Hospital, a member of Orlando Health's family of hospitals, continues its mission to "improve the health of the community" by providing safe, quality healthcare services in an atmosphere of caring. Health Central Hospital's commitment, attitude and actions reflect over 60 years of service to its surrounding communities and neighbors. The staff, made up of nearly 1500 employees and over 400 doctors, having use of the most advanced equipment and technology, ensures that every patient receives the safe, quality and personalized care they deserve.
Health Central Hospital's 440,000 square-foot 171-bed Joint Commission accredited, Leapfrog group A-rated for patient safety, acute care hospital and physician offices include a 34 bed Emergency Center, Rehabilitation Services for inpatient and outpatient occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech therapy and a complete Surgical Suite that includes seven operating rooms and an outpatient center for diagnostic testing.
Health Central Hospital has continued to advance its cardiovascular care offerings with its team of interventional cardiologists, catheterization suites, minimally invasive interventional vascular and cardiac procedures and the addition of its Chest Pain Center for specialized chest pain observation and treatment. The hospital is also recognized as a Joint Commission accredited Primary Stroke Receiving Center.
According to Hospital Compare, Medicare's public web site, Health Central Hospital ranks in the top 10th percentile nationally in quality measures for treatment of acute myocardial infarction (heart attacks), heart failure and prevention of blood clots. The hospital's performance in quality measures to prevent surgical site infections, stroke care and treatment of pneumonia exceeds both Florida state and national performance benchmarks.
Health Central Hospital launched its 24x7 intensivist program to enhance the care provided to ICU patients, and engage physicians with advanced critical care board certification who specialize in treating the most seriously ill or injured patients. The hospital also brought innovation into its cardiac intensive care unit with the introduction of Robodoc. Officially known as RP-7, the high-tech robot is equipped with technology and medical tools to allow doctors to be in two places at once. RP-7 features interactive software to connect an offsite, intensivist with patients, nurses and other clinicians.
Health Central Hospital recently unveiled its state-of-the-art cancer center: UF Health Cancer Center in Ocoee. A collaborative offering of Orlando Health and the University of Florida, the cancer center offers the community general radiation oncology, chemotherapy, IV therapy and supportive care-all close to home.
With these new technologies and procedures added to their services along with the staff of seasoned physicians, Health Central Hospital will continue to grow to meet the needs of the community, close to home and all on one campus.
